I have been cooking delicious Egyptian Style food in and around London for many years. I am not Egyptian but married to an Egyptian and love the country, the culture, the people and most of all the food. My food is a reflection of the melting pot that is Egypt: a harmonious mix of cultures, traditions, influences and ingredients from around the world.
I have tried to create some very authentic dishes that will taste as they would in Egypt. I have adapted some recipies to reflect current trends in the UK and have some not Egyptian but very tasty things that are partucular favourites of mine.
At every stage, I take extreme care in what I am doing and am very proud of every single plate of food that I serve. I hope that you will take the opportunity to visit me in my little shop (not quiet a restaurant, not really a café) just a lovely place to pass the time where you can sit and enjoy a bite to eat, play a game of backgammon or just have a coffee and a chat. Slices of Hot slightly spicy Sausage. Tasty and very moreish.
Veggie Mezze Platter - Serves 2-3
A selection of Falafel, Foul, Hummus, Olives, Feta Cheese Dip, Tabbouleh, Aubergine Salad, Flat Bread.
Fresh and Zingy salad of finely chopped Parsley, Mint and Onion with lots of Fresh Lemon Juice and a bit of heat.
Tomatoes, Cucumber, Red Onion, and Mixed Olives topped with Feta Cheese.
Mozarrella and Tomato Salad with fresh Basil dressed with Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Oregano.
Coleslaw made with Free Range Egg Mayonnaise
Grated Carrot dressed with Fresh Orange and Cinnamon
Red Cabbage Salad
Shredded Red Cabbage pickled in Fresh Lemon and dressed with Dill
Bamia braised in Tomato Sauce, with lots of Onion and a hint of Garlic. Dressed with fresh Corriander
Whole Leaf Spinach cooked in a light Tomato Sauce with Cumin Seeds
Potato and Sweet Pepper Stew
Sliced Potatoes cooked in Tomato with Sweet Peppers seasoned with fresh Coriander, garlic and cumin.
Borlotti Beans and Kale
Stewed Beans and Kale; a perfect combination
